Accessibility Statement for soscoe.org

The Security of Supply Centre of Excellence (SOSCOE) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. Indeed, we are continually improving the user experience for everyone. Therefore, we are applying the relevant accessibility standards.

This accessibility statement describes how soscoe.org complies with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Furthermore, it outlines any known accessibility issues. Finally, it explains how you can report barriers to us so that we can address them.

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. Specifically, it defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

The SOSCOE website is substantially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. This means that most parts of the content conform to the accessibility standard.

Measures Taken to Improve Accessibility

We have undertaken a systematic effort to ensure and improve the accessibility of our website. To illustrate, this includes the following measures:

  • Ensuring a logical and correct heading structure (semantic HTML) to facilitate the use of screen readers.
  • Moreover, implementing a clear typographic hierarchy with a legible typeface and generous line spacing to enhance readability.
  • In addition, carefully reviewing and adjusting all text and component colours to meet the WCAG AA requirements for colour contrast.
  • Furthermore, designing a responsive layout that adapts and functions well on various screen sizes, from mobile to desktop.
  • Structuring the site to allow for full navigation using only the keyboard.
  • Finally, providing text alternatives (alt text) for most non-textual elements.

Assessment Approach

We have continually assessed the website’s accessibility using automated tools. Primarily, we use the WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool.  However, we also conduct manual review of the site’s structure and functionality.
